FAQ

Answers first. Then apply.

We run this like an emergency room. We’d rather spend our time helping people who are ready than giving tours. So here’s nearly everything people ask. If your question isn’t here, the answer is probably in the stories.

Cost and payment

How much does it cost?

$7,500, one time. It’s not a monthly fee.

Why one payment instead of monthly?

Some people call $7,500 expensive and some call it cheap. For us it’s a small hurdle that shows you’re serious. It covers 12 months of coaching.

Who runs it, and who do I pay?

The Local Service Spotlight team runs the AI Builder Program. After you’re approved, you pay on our secure order page. Some older pages call it the AI Apprentice Program. It’s the same program.

Who usually pays?

Usually the parents make the investment and the son or daughter does the work. Some young adults pay their own way, which is great too.

Am I paying for courses?

No. The courses are free. You’re paying for results and the human coaching it takes to get them.

Do I pay before I'm accepted?

No. Take the fit check, send your one-minute video, and we’ll review it. Pay only after you’re approved, on our payment page.

Can I get paid instead of paying?

If you already teach and practice this work in public, yes, you can apply for a paid seat. Send your one-minute YouTube video plus links to public articles and videos where you already do it. If you can’t show that yet, you take the program. In Dennis’s words: “We don’t pay people for the privilege of being taught, coached and mentored.” We’d love to find more builders like Jack Wendt, and pay them to co-found and run one of our agencies. See the hiring page.

What's included

What do I get?

A live coaching call every Thursday at 2 PM Pacific, a weekly Metrics, Analysis, Action report we review, about 140 courses, our checklists, access to the team’s AI accounts and the agents we’ve built, a builder group that’s online around the clock, and real client work. If you come in without a client, we’ll give you one.

Who coaches?

Dennis Yu leads the program. Dylan Haugen is one of the coaches, and other team members join depending on the topic. Read Dylan’s own guide to what’s included.

What are the weekly calls like?

They’re open office hours. Bring something you’ve already tried to solve. Often we show a new technique we found that week, or a builder shares one, so everybody learns together.

What's the weekly report?

Metrics: what you worked on and the results. Analysis: what you learned. Action: what you’ll do next. It lets us find your bottlenecks and coach you without playing 20 questions.

Do I get clients?

You start with one, often a parent’s business. If you do good work, we may refer you more, because more businesses come to us than we can handle.

Time and schedule

How long is the program?

The $7,500 covers 12 months of coaching. But you don’t graduate because time passes. You graduate by proving it: your weekly reports show tracked phone calls for a live client at an acceptable cost per lead. In coach Dylan Haugen’s words, maybe it takes six weeks of testing and tuning, maybe twenty.

How much time does it take?

Plan on at least an hour a day, about five hours a week, to keep up and do the work for one business. Building an agency takes your full focus. That’s why young adults who can go all-in grow fastest, and why owners doing it on the side often struggle.

Is it online?

The work and the coaching are online. Some builders also travel with the team to conferences, colleges and client visits.

Who it's for

Who is this for?

Self-driven problem solvers who can explain a problem in words, communicate and document their work, and handle ambiguity and risk. It’s built for people in the United States doing marketing for local service businesses.

Who is it not for?

People who wait to be chased, don’t document their work, or want a two-hour-a-day escape from a boss they hate. It’s not a hobby, and it’s not a way to convince you to become an entrepreneur.

Do I need to code?

No. We work in plain English, not Python. Cam Hazzard built his AI agents without writing code.

Do I need to be outgoing or a native English speaker?

No. English wasn’t Dennis’s first language, and he was an introvert who was scared of public speaking. Caleb Guilliams now speaks at Traffic & Conversion and credits Dennis with the chance. These skills can be learned.

Is there an age limit?

Age matters less than follow-through. Most builders are in their teens or twenties, and some are older. Founders and owners join too, on their own path.

What do I need to start?

A laptop that can run today’s AI tools, a phone for video, and the willingness to be on camera. Jeff Pebley started with only a school-issued Chromebook and no phone, and earned company tools by doing the work.

Working with Dennis

Is this one-on-one coaching with Dennis?

This isn’t one-on-one consulting with Dennis. He isn’t a freelancer for hire. You join a team: Dennis, Dylan Haugen, the other builders and the AI agents we use every day.

Can I get on a call first to ask questions?

We don’t do sales calls or tours. Everything we’d say on a call is on this site and in the videos. If you’re serious, take the fit check and send the one-minute video. That’s the conversation.

Can I contact the builders?

Yes. Their stories link to their own sites. If someone’s situation looks like yours, reach out to them.

For parents

Can I apply for my son or daughter?

You can take the fit check together, but the one-minute video has to be theirs. It’s the test of whether they’ll follow through.

What should I expect to see?

A weekly report with real numbers, a business that gets more calls, and a young adult who learns to manage AI agents, communicate with owners and finish what they start.

What if my business is the first client?

That’s the most common start. Give them real access and honest feedback, and judge them by the calls, not the hours.

For founders

Can a business owner join?

Yes. Same program, same price. Your path is usually setting up AI agents inside your own company, not starting a one-industry agency. Read the founder path first. It’s honest about time.

What if I don't have time?

Then put someone else in the seat: your son or daughter, an employee who steps up, or a builder who already serves your industry.

Applying

How do I apply?

Take the fit check. Then record a one-minute video about anything, post it on YouTube and email the link to operations@localservicespotlight.com with the subject “AI Builder application”.

Why a video?

It shows you’ll do something simple without excuses, step out of your comfort zone and communicate clearly. That matters because more and more of your teammates will be AI agents, and you’ll direct them the same way.

What should the video be about?

Anything. A round of golf, a podcast you liked, an idea you had. Done is better than perfect. It doesn’t need editing.

What happens after I send it?

We review it and get back to you. If you’re approved, you’ll pay the one-time $7,500 and start with one real client.
